Overview

Let’s conquer the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia, Gunung Tahan (2,187m). If you have courage to ascend and descend mountains, crossing rivers, long distance hiking and camping for nights, this might be one of your best experiences in life.

Gunung Tahan, is one of the most challenging mountains to climb. It’s about 32km from Kuala Juram, Sg Relau, Merapoh and 53km from Kampung Kuala Tahan. The trail requires you to be mentally and physically fit. Be prepared and enjoy your thrilling nature journey!

This package starts and ends in Merapoh. You must have clear plan how to get there (either by self-drive or train or public bus). You may have options such as self-drive, public bus or taxi to your Merapoh. We suggest you reach in Merapoh one day earlier and have enough sleep before the hiking.

DAY 1 : KUALA TAHAN– MELANTAI

7:30 am  - Meetup operation manager in Kuala Tahan
8:30am   - Hiker registration at Wildlife Office, Kuala Tahan  
9:00am   - Items checking by Wildlife officer
10:00am - Safety briefing by Wildlife officer
10:30am - Start hiking from Kuala Tahan to Kem Melantai (12km)
                - Camp at Kem Melantai
                - Set up your own tent

                - Cook your own dinner
                - Refresh & sleep

 

DAY 2 :  MELANTAI – KUALA PUTEH

7:00 am  - Prepare your own breakfast

                 - Hiking from Melantai to Kuala Puteh (13km)
                 - Camp at Kuala Puteh

                 - Set up your own tent
                 - Cook your own dinner
                 - Refresh & sleep

DAY 3 : KUALA PUTEH - KUALA TEKU - GUNUNG GEDUNG

                 - Hiking from Kuala Puteh to Kuala Teku (7km)

                 - Camp at Kuala Teku

DAY 4 : KUALA TEKU – GUNUNG GEDUNG

                - Hiking from Kuala Teku to Gunung Gedung (21km)

                - Camp at Gunung Gedung

DAY 5 : GUNUNG GEDUNG – GUNUNG TAHAN PEAK – BUKIT BOTAK

7:00 am  - Prepare your own breakfast  

                - Hiking from Gunung Gedung to Peak, Gunung Tahan (7km)
                - Hiking to Bukit Botak (2.5km)
                - Camp at Bukit Botak
                - Set up your own tent
                - Cook your own dinner
                - Refresh & sleep​

DAY 6 : BUKIT BOTAK – KEM KOR

7:00 am  - Prepare your own breakfast
                - Hiking from Bukit Botak to Kem Kor (16km)
                - Camp at Kem Kor
                - Set up your own tent
                - Cook your own dinner
                - Refresh & sleep

DAY 7 : KEM KOR - KUALA JURAM

7:00 am    - Prepare your own breakfast
                  - Hiking from Kem Kor to Kuala Juram (13.5km)
                  -  Transfer from Kuala Juram to Sg Relau (13KM) by 4WD 

12:00 pm  - Arrival Sg Relau (subject to your group strength)

                   - Item checking by Wildlife Officer

Important Notes

  1. All food & camping gears are on your own.

  2. Actual hiking distance in a day is based on your group strength.

  3. Itinerary might be changed by Mountain Guide’s discretion if the need arise.

  4. RM50.00 service charge per changes is applicable if you change your confirmed booking.
